A Message from our CEO in response to COVID-19 (coronavirus)

Hello Elk Hill Supporters,

During these unpredictable times, Elk Hill continues to transform overwhelming challenges into successful futures!  As you know, all organizations are faced with making adjustments regarding the world’s coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns.  Our leadership team proactively started making plans several weeks ago based on the most current information available.  Our staff has shouldered the responsibility for those in our care and are continuing to make sacrifices each day to support our organization.  It has truly been an humbling experience that exemplifies that what we believe shows in what we do.  After reviewing federal, state, and local guidance, here are some of the procedures we have developed:

• We have provided regular communications in person and by email to staff to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  This includes adding additional sanitary standards on campus and in the community.
• We have created social distance by limiting group meetings and supporting teleworking whenever possible.
• Our Residential locations will continue to provide supportive quality services to our residents while they remain out of school for an extended period.
• Our Harambee, Charlottesville and Staunton schools will remain closed until March 27, 2020, but staff will continue to provide emotional, nutritional, and educational support to our students.
• Several of our Community Services staff will continue to provide limited outpatient and prevention services to ensure clients get the care that they need.
• And our administrative staff continues to be a stabilizing force within our organization.

In addition, we have also partnered with many other notable non-profit organizations to confirm our current actions and to learn what others are considering during these interesting times.  We have communicated with licensing agencies about any adjustments that must be made.  We plan to speak with legislators about the best way to ensure the continuity of programmatic needs now and in the future.  There is no doubt that your support has also made this all possible and we thank you!   We will keep you informed in the future as needed.
