Elk Hill Charlottesville School continues to grow and progress since first opening its doors to 10 students in 2010. The EHCS staff and administration work hard to enable children and families to transform overwhelming challenges into successful futures. Through specialized education tailored to each individual student, EHCS strives to provide our students with opportunities to succeed in their academic endeavors as well as providing a safe environment conducive for personal growth and development.

We’re proud to offer a number of features unique to this location:
Ms. Dawn Gillette brings over 20 years of experience in nonprofit management, direct client service, and education to the Charlottesville School. She began her career in development, including fundraising and volunteer management, in Portland, Oregon. Dawn managed a mentoring program for parenting teens on the Big Island of Hawai’i and moved on to in-home direct service to new parents when she moved to Charlottesville in 2002. She started her work in the field of education as a direct provider of therapeutic day treatment services and earned her Master of Education degree in Special Education while working as a special education teacher and case manager.
