Dear Elk Hill Family,
During these uncertain and difficult times, our Elk Hill family wanted to pause and take a moment to reach out to you, our donors and supporters, not only to express our gratitude for your support of our organization, but also with a heartfelt wish for you and your family’s continued safety and wellbeing.
The COVID-19 pandemic is touching all of us in so many ways, but through this crisis and those to come, Elk Hill remains committed to serving Central Virginia’s youth in whatever capacity we are able. After all, our mission, perhaps more relevant now than ever, is centered on the principle of transforming overwhelming challenges into successful futures.
Like so many nonprofits across the region and nation, Elk Hill is facing unprecedented financial challenges resulting from social distancing and closures. We will weather this storm, but we are also hopeful that our supporters, if they are able, will consider a donation to help us through this challenging time. You can make a donation online here.
While Elk Hill’s three schools and our community-based services are unable to serve children in traditional ways, we still have staff on the front lines caring for children 24/7 in our residential treatment centers. Additionally, we have received a waiver from the Governor’s Office for our Goochland Residential program that will allow us to continue to provide ongoing education on campus for our seven residents.
Moreover, our Community Based Counselors, trained professionals who would ordinarily serve children through the schools, are working on innovative approaches to continuing service for the children who need it the most.
We are so grateful for your support of our team.
Finally, we recognize that mental health and well-being is important for everyone in our community. For this reason, I want to share two resources with you that our staff have found helpful:
Talking to Kids about the Coronavirus
How to cope with COVID-19 anxiety, stress, irritability and uncertainty
Thank you for your steadfast support of Elk Hill and our community.
Warmest regards,

Michael Farley
